In my case, I send the webmention automatically and then immediately parse out the Location header from the response, and commit that as my syndication link, which triggers another recompile.

Right, so you would have to include an empty link to Bridgy's twitter publish URL somewhere in your h-entry. Then you need to send a webmention to that URL (unless it's automatic).

I use Bridgy to syndicate the post after I publish it (by automatically sending a webmention), and then I re-compile the site with the syndicated location embedded in the post.

@nhoizey For more info on why I organize my posts the way I do, see https://desmondrivet.com/2022/02/27/post-type-org

@nhoizey All of my post related templates (for the tag, archive, bookmark, blog pages, etc.) are directly under post/, but the posts themselves are tucked under posts/feed. @eleven_ty can sometimes blur the line between content and presentation.

@nhoizey I was thinking, perhaps naively, that someone who is interested in my notes would also interested in my blog (and my photos), hence the combined feed. The reverse may not be true; someone who is interested in my blog may not want my notes, hence the isolated blog feed.

Cool. I think I remember reading that Moderna was also developing an mRNA HIV vaccine too.

I don't know about awesome, but I usually find myself enjoying SQL more than I think I will.
Jul 17, 2021, 3:55 AM -04:00Unpopular opinion: SQL is awesome and I really like writing performant SELECT statements.

I thought I read that they were developing boosters for the delta variant but I'm not sure.

I don't organize my bookmarks, though I've always meant to. That being said, isn't the point of IndieWeb's bookmark entry type to avoid relying on an external service for this?
Feb 15, 2021, 4:25 AM -05:00Testing a new browser gave me the incentive and opportunity to clean up my pile of "bookmarks". Wondering how most people use and organise their browser #bookmarks? Do you keep everything in separate folders? Never gotten around in using one of those "pinning" services, even-though I've been "bookmarking" interesting things using my "Known CMS" site, but I don't organise those properly using tags.

Wait... did I miss something? What's wrong with shortbread?

I used to use the Big Brother Database from Emacs but these days I don't use anything in particular and I'd like to change that.

How does this work, exactly? Is he rebinding old books or is he making new (blank, I guess?) books? Either way, looks really cool.

@bobbyvoicu If it weren't for our brilliant writers, this character would not have shined. It really is like a tango - it takes two to do it. Thank you so much. 😊❤

I use Piwigo. My gallery: https://photos.desmondrivet.com/ I'm interested in the idea of statically generated galleries but it's unclear to me how this would work if you have GBs of photos. Where would you store the images?

Oct 25, 2020, 6:42 AM -04:00There’s loads of fun interactive fiction games to play at IFComp 2020. We came across IFComp yesterday, via a friend of E’s, and played Saint Simon’s Saw and Stand Up / Stay Silent.

Traffic noise outside my house is really bothering me and making me feel frazzled, so give me recs for soothing music and other things that might help with it, please? 💜

I'm not entirely sure that I am. I've fried thick slices so they develop a crust. The result is tasty enough, but not great.

Maybe you could just say "hello", but with a French accent :-) I'm only half-joking. If the language you're using doesn't have a word for the concept you wish to express, I sort of feel like you're justified in borrowing a word from another language.

There's "salut" which means "hi" but considered to casual to greet your neighbors, especially if you live in a big building and don't know them by name. So you basically have to know what time it is before greeting them. (plus it's not like there's an official cut-off)

Huh. Either I'm using Together incorrectly or it has a bug but my last comment was meant for another post. Sorry about that!

Aug 27, 2020, 7:38 AM -04:00Isolation Photo Project : Day 158
I considered quitting the Isolation Photo Project last week, but I’ve enjoyed the daily posting. I want to continue posting daily but don’t like all my posts with this title. I’m uncertain how I’ll change things, but I hope to end this project this Sunday. Of course, I’m still physically isolating, and we’re no longer shut-ins like we were from early March to early July. Our weekly socially-distanced-face-mask-wearing outdoor dinners at the Brick Farm Tavern, Flounder Brewing’s beer garden an...
